'My Microscopic World' Puts LabCam to Good Use

LabCam microscope iPhone adapter can be used in medicine and science to make capturing microscope images easy and precise. Martin Kristiansen is becoming an expert in expansion microscopy and has started My Microscopic World where he uses LabCam to capture movies and still images

Expansion Microscopy is a process that uses polymers to physically expand preserved biological specimens so that nanoscale imaging is possible with conventional light microscopes.

"A couple of months after I bought my microscope ( I was ) starting to annoy the people I knew with my almost daily pictures and clips of very small stuff," he says. A friend suggested he post them to Instagram and today, with the help of LabCam, you'll find his discoveries there and on YouTube and Facebook, too.

He started out with a less-than-satisfactory camera, and "...quickly realized that just holding my iPhone up to the eyepiece was way better." The problem was how to do that quickly and accurately. "I came up with a contraption made of the lids from objective cases and some wire (but)I hated that I had to spend so much time mounting my phone each time… "I came across the LabCam which looked exactly like the thing I needed to increase the quality of my content."

Martin is currently working on a Master’s Degree, is further exploring expansion microscopy, and is preparing a journal article on the topic.
